Newsletter #4: How to Use the Services Module

On 1 January we officially shut down our beta platform and moved to a two-tier subscription service. Our Free version allows you to continue to access our curated news stream, whereas with a Pro subscription you can also view our Services coverage, Ports & Terminals module, and play around with the data in our downloadable Market Intelligence files.

We’d like to sincerely thank everyone who has signed up for the Pro platform so far. In the coming weeks, we want to highlight how you can use our main features to make more market intel-based decisions in your work. If you’re currently on the Free subscription, you’ll receive an inside look at all the additional features you can enjoy with an upgrade.

When you visit our Services module, you’ll be able to search through and sort services as you please. You can view all services based on the primary trade lane, company or alliance, or port of call, or simply click on “Search” to see a complete list of all current services.

All of our mapped services include the pro forma version (select between current, past, and future), the average vessel capacity, the number of VSA partners, the duration of round trips, and the frequency of departures.

You can get an in-depth look at when the service will arrive at each port, and see deployment and total distance travelled on the route. Find where the bottlenecks are on a particular service - we’ll explain our methodology behind bottlenecks in more detail in an upcoming newsletter. Where available, we’ve included the vessels operating each service.

eeSea Services Screen Shot 3

We’ve already mapped all East-West and North-South trades from every major container shipping line and now have full global coverage on all mother services, including regional main services.
In our next newsletter we’ll go into more depth about our Ports & Terminals module. If you’re having trouble with any of the features of the Services module, we've also created a blog post that takes you through the steps of finding a service and understanding the included data. Don't hesitate to reach out to us at if you have any questions or comments to pass along.
We hope you’ve enjoyed using eeSea so far as we strive to be the most complete container shipping data tool available.

You can filter your search results even further by average vessel capacity, alliances, ports of call, and more. Take a look in the right-hand sidebar after you complete a search to see your options.
